EAG Application Solutions for Surface ChemistryThe surface chemistry of an organic material’s outer monolayer can have a dramatic affect of surface wetting, biocompatibility, reactivity, and adhesion. For example, plasma processing and other gas-phase treatments are routinely used to alter the near-surface chemistry of polymer films prior to printing or use in/on cell culture materials. Similarly, organic silanes and thiol-terminated self-assembled monolayers are applied from solutions to modify the surface chemistry of glasses and metals. Evans Analytical Group® (EAG) is well versed in the various factors that can affect surface chemistry and can help you select the right technique to use—and ensure you receive the best results. Many different analytical techniques are available for understanding the issues associated with coverage, molecular orientation, functionalization, contamination, and surface segregation.
